The Best Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Geoffrey Morrison

After testing 53 headphones, including 11 for this update, we think the Bose QuietComfort 35 Series II are the best noise-cancelling headphones for most people. They have excellent overall noise reduction, they’re comfortable, lightweight, and able to fold down into a compact carrying case. They aren’t perfect—the sound quality is decent enough, just not spectacular—but if your goal is to have a wireless headphone that’s able to turn down the volume on the outside world, these are hard to beat.

Great noise reduction, comfortable and portable, plus clever Google-integration that works with Android and iOS.
The Series II is the latest version of Bose’s wireless noise-cancelling over-ear headphone. The noise cancelling is still class-leading, though not quite as good as the wired QC25s. The QC35SII are comfortable, light, have great battery life, and sound pretty good. New this year is a button that lets you access Google Assistant, letting you ask it questions or send and listen to messages. That’s a neat feature, though hardly the main point of NC headphones. This pair is the best overall option, though it’s beaten in a few specific ways if you’re looking for a specific feature.
